Our work here is done!

Image
Finally finished the motorhome just over a week ago and now we're actually in Oregon already 😁 I have officially given up blogging because I dislike the hassle of it. Instagram is much more user-friendly so if you want to see updates from our trip, follow @motorhome_miles  If you don't have instagram, find a friend that can share with you or request a coffee date when I'm back and I'll show you the highlights!  Anyways, here is the finished product!  I'd love to thank my dedicated fan club for sticking with it to the bitter end of a 5-post blog. It's been a journey, but you're all rock stars 🌟  That's it. The end.  Written and illustrated by Stacy Flokstra

Starting to Look Good

Image
The motorhome is starting to look really good! With the back corner nearly done, cabinets completed, wallpaper up, a shelf built, and general progress everywhere, we see the end in sight!  It's been a lot of researching, shopping, and finding the little things to finish up. I never thought I'd be spending literal dayyyys looking for storage bins of the right sizes and utensil holders and paper towel holders etc. But that's my life lately and I'm enjoying the challenge 😁😎

The Little Things

Image
It's all those little things that start adding up to make the project look great!  This week has been full of the fun work! For me, anyways. Braedan finished the roof!! I've been priming and painting 24/7 it seems! It's really getting there though! Amazing how much brighter the space gets just from painting it lighter!  Spray painted the window trims & vent covers  Primer for the door Green for the kitchen cabinets and added the backsplash Braedan has been doing lots of exterior work.  And... the rest of these went really out of order. But pictured are: the completed couch covers, everything primed, and the painted fridge. Enjoy :)

Slowly but surely

Slowly but surely  Delayed post due to (I'm really not a blogger) and a Winnipeg wedding. But we are making some progress with the motorhome now!  The water damage found by the water tank has been ripped out and replaced. Thankfully, it seems the water tank itself is still good.  There was also water damage on the bathroom wall, so that has been ripped out and replaced as well. I bought a white cabinet with mirror doors for above the sink. I didn't take a photo of it, but it was a highlight of the day to assemble it. It's just like an advanced Lego set!  Here's the old bed deck that went above the cab. It was quite rotten and so was the foam mattress on it. We rebuilt the entire thing and bought a new foam mattress.  Some progress on the missing walls inside. Well, they're back! But in prime condition instead of rotten condition. Much superior.  New bed deck... water jug for holding down the glue.  And the outside. Dad volunteered some time to build th...

One step forward, 2 steps back!

A bit of progress... We finally put a pause to the destruction and started on the good part. Braedan's been hard at work cutting plywood (the fancy kind I'm told) to replace the old walls and ceiling in places.  Meanwhile, I've put on my artistic hat and started to paint. The fridge is now going to be black so that it matches the oven and microwave. I, being very aware of my many talents, was like "nah I don't need to tape the edges, I got this." But in fact, I did NOT got this. So here's the tape, and I will need to buy paint remover once it's complete 😂 The biggest paint job so far has been these cabinet doors. There's another stack that didn't fit on my makeshift table so this project will take a while.  Step 1: wash the doors with soapy water Step 2: rinse with clean water Step 3: sand everything Step 4: dust them off Step 5: wash them again  Step 6: primer (pictured here) Step 7: I'll keep you in suspense cause we ain't there yet...

Sewing Projects

New Curtains On days that Braedan is at work and I'm not, I work on sewing projects. The curtains needed upgrading, so I went to Fabricland and found two room darkening curtains that I chopped up and turned into curtain replacements.   I spent 2-3 hours trying to lay out all the curtain pieces so that I could make all the curtains out of these 2 panels. To the downfall of my sanity, it did not work out no matter which way I shifted those things. So, I decided to make the main room curtains out of these panels so they would match, and the two "office" windows I will have to make out of another fabric.  Above: old curtain fabric  Below: new curtain fabric  The best part was that Fabricland had an amazing sale and I bought each blackout curtain panel for $15 instead of $50!
