Slowly but surely 

Delayed post due to (I'm really not a blogger) and a Winnipeg wedding. But we are making some progress with the motorhome now! 

The water damage found by the water tank has been ripped out and replaced. Thankfully, it seems the water tank itself is still good. 




There was also water damage on the bathroom wall, so that has been ripped out and replaced as well. I bought a white cabinet with mirror doors for above the sink. I didn't take a photo of it, but it was a highlight of the day to assemble it. It's just like an advanced Lego set! 



Here's the old bed deck that went above the cab. It was quite rotten and so was the foam mattress on it. We rebuilt the entire thing and bought a new foam mattress. 


Some progress on the missing walls inside. Well, they're back! But in prime condition instead of rotten condition. Much superior.

And the outside. Dad volunteered some time to build those jenky wooden holders for the metal frame on the front. 

So nice to make some visible progress!!

Destruction

 If it ain't broke, don't fix it! But here's the problem. There was some "broke" things so we naturally decided to "fix" everything. There was some water damage in spots, which meant that parts of our motorhome's walls, roof, and floor had rotted. To fix it requires taking apart a lot of the structure to figure out where the damage is and replace that plywood.  So, the past week or so has been majorly dedicated to destruction. We had lots of friends stop by to help us with this process. Thanks to all of them!  We ripped out the once-green, now-blackish carpet from the drivers area and stairs.  The laminate flooring had to go as well - years of use made it very brittle and cracked in some spaces. The dinette cushions had to go as well. The fabric was ripped in places and had a pattern straight out of a history book. Time for a serious upgrade! The Beginning

 Meet Maverick Well here we are. The motorhome has been sitting in my dad's shop for the past few months and we're finally starting to work on it. It's gonna be a big project but we are ready to take it on (we hope!)  I thankfully remembered to take a few "before" pictures! Actually, I forgot and had already done some take-down work but put the stuff back up so I could take the photos 😅  Stay tuned for the destruction photos!

One step forward, 2 steps back!

 A bit of progress... We finally put a pause to the destruction and started on the good part. Braedan's been hard at work cutting plywood (the fancy kind I'm told) to replace the old walls and ceiling in places.  Meanwhile, I've put on my artistic hat and started to paint. The fridge is now going to be black so that it matches the oven and microwave. I, being very aware of my many talents, was like "nah I don't need to tape the edges, I got this." But in fact, I did NOT got this. So here's the tape, and I will need to buy paint remover once it's complete 😂 The biggest paint job so far has been these cabinet doors. There's another stack that didn't fit on my makeshift table so this project will take a while.  Step 1: wash the doors with soapy water Step 2: rinse with clean water Step 3: sand everything Step 4: dust them off Step 5: wash them again  Step 6: primer (pictured here) Step 7: I'll keep you in suspense cause we ain't there yet...
